Stupid people believe stupid things.

There are a couple of web site and articles being passed around claiming high numbers of "mass shootings" and "school shootings"  and even some of our (stupid) elected officials are trotting these out in their anti-gun dog and pony shows. The problem is, the numbers are all false and what they are claiming about the numbers of mass and school shootings simply is not true. If you were to believe these numbers then you would think there was a Columbine or Aurora style shooting happening just about every day.

The facts are they are simply pumping as many numbers from as many different events into the equation to make an exaggerated point and generate a kneejerk reaction from easily fooled people. When you actually start to break down the numbers you begin to see the lies and deceptions in their presentation. This is all deliberate. They expect people to glom onto their exaggerated headline and shiny chart and run with it (instead of looking at the actual numbers) and that is exactly what stupid people do.

Luckily for me (and you!) someone has looked at the numbers and broken everything down so you can see the true facts and the exposed lies.

First, the claim that mass shootings are out pacing the days of the year. The Washington post released published an article claiming that there have been 355 mass shootings this year.

Where as the New York Times publishes an article breaking down the numbers (surprisingly from a writer at MotherJones.com) which shows the 355 number which comes from a pro gun control site called shootingtracker.com is not only egregiously high, it is a downright fabrication.

Do some reading on your own, see what is really happening.

On the school shooting front, Bloombergs Everytown group has been falsely claiming that there have been over 150 school shootings since Sandy Hook School Shooting but apparently Everytown believes that if a gun is fired in a city with a school, then it MUST be a school shooting.

Politifact and others looked into the claims when the number of "school shootings" was 74, and found that the claim was "Mostly False"  Politifact Truth o Meter

It should come as no surprise that the anti-gun crowd would lie and distort facts, they count on their followers being stupid. So they say stupid things and the stupid people believe them.

Do some research, don't be stupid.

How are those strict gun control measures working out for you?

In the wake of the recent mass shooting (terrorist attack on a Christmas party) in California, which left 14 dead and 14 or more wounded. We have learned (we, actually those of us here at SSSS already knew this) That Barbara Boxer (D) California is stupid. I would say that not only is she stupid, she is dangerously stupid.

Oh really? Those "sensible" gun laws (which are some of the most restrictive in the United States) allowed two terrorists to legally purchase firearms and murder 14 innocent people. People like Senator Boxer are a danger to the people of the US. They need to understand that "their way" does not work. I believe the senator is no longer in control of her mental faculties and needs to be replaced ASAP.

John Conyers isn't stupid, his intelligence is just out of status.

I don't even really need to write anything about this, it pretty much speaks for itself...Conyers is the Forrest Gump of the House of Representatives...

Opening the first immigration hearing of the new Congress, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee warned his colleagues not to use the term "illegal immigrant" as the debate goes on.

"I hope no one uses the term illegal immigrants here today. Our citizens are not — the people in this country are not illegal. They are are out of status. They are new Americans that are immigrants," said Rep. John Conyers Jr., Michigan Democrat.

As Congress begins the immigration debate, both sides are preparing for an emotionally charged fight, and language will be one of the battlegrounds.

Many immigrant-rights advocates object to the terms "illegal" and "alien," saying that people cannot be deemed illegal, and that the word "alien" makes them sound inhuman. They argue the better terms are "undocumented migrants."

Many newspapers, including The Washington Times, use the phrase "illegal immigrant," deeming it the most accurate description.

But defenders of the term "alien" argue that an immigrant is someone who arrived here legally, while an alien is any foreigner — therefore an "illegal alien" is the proper description for those who are here outside of the law.

Academics, searching for a more neutral term, have recently begun using "unauthorized migrants" as their phrase of choice.

In a speech earlier this year, President Obama said to business owners, "You didn't build that." Now. regardless of what he actually meant, that was a stupid thing to say. But it was not the most stupid thing he said during that speech.

 

That's it right there. I'm really suprised that more people did not pick up on that comment from the same speech. Government research did not create the Internet so that companies could make money off the Internet. Enterprising individuals and companies looked at the Internet and figured out ways to make money.

 

So, Internet Commerce Mr President? You didn't build that.

Elizabeth Warren thinks business owners don't contribute.

So, a while back I saw this quote from Elizabeth Warren. I had no idea who she was, but soon learned that she is seeking to replace Scott Brown in Congress. See the quote below to analyze the stupid.

On the surface, this seems like it makes sense. It definitely makes a good sound bite. But if you start to break down what she is saying, you'll see that it is actually a pretty hypocritical statement. This whole sound bite can only apply if the factory owner and his employees never pay any property or income taxes. Seriously, look at what she says. "The rest of us" meaning mister factory owner didn't contribute and owes "the rest of us" something because we paid for the roads and the employees education and the police and fire departments. This is what class warfare looks like folks. It sneaks in as an innocent sound bite waiting for gullible to eat it up. I would think mister factory is already paying forward. he and his employees pay income taxes to help pay for the roads, police and fire departments. They pay property taxes that pay for the schools. He will probably pay for all or part of his employees health insurance. He may offer tuition reimbursement for his employees going back to school. To listen to Miss Warren, you would think he has the police and fire departments right there on standby protecting his factory 24 hours a day.  I could go on and on, but I'll stop here.

Stupid blast from the past - Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) admits he does not do his job.

We (try to) elect congressmen and senators who we believe will represent our best interests and the best interests of the country. Unfortunately some of them are really just in it for the power, prestige and perks that come with holding a high government office.

What we have here is an elected official pretty much admitting that he is not doing his job. And on top of that, it was a election year, even after admitting that he wasn't doing the job he was elected to do, he still managed to get re-elected! This is stupidity on a statewide level. Michigan, this one is on you.

Apparently, this is not a one time thing for Rep Conyers.

 
So what is going on with Rep. Conyers? Will he just sign anything his party leaders send his way? Is he just there to toe the line and collect a paycheck?

Parents beware, your childs lunch could be racist!

Racism is still a problem in the world and it does not look like it will go away anytime soon. You might be thinking "Yes, you are correct because there are still a lot of racists out there." Certainly that is true, but there is another source that seems to fly under the radar. These people believe they are helping the cause, but in truth they are driving the problem. Call them race baiters or other terms, but they are one of the major reasons that it seems like racial issues are going backwards. I'm not sure why they don't get called out more often. But when they are stupid, we'll call them out here.
